January 2022 Progress Report

Hello, everyone!
If you don't follow me on twitter, it probably seems as if I've abandoned this project, but I promise that I'm working very hard on it!

The rest of the team is awaiting my art and writing before they can continue, but this is going to take a while. The current plan is for us to release the game by the end of the year. I'm going to break down what I've been working on in order to show you the progress that's being made and where Mise en Scene's progress stands at this moment:

Character Sprites:
All of the character sprites are getting an update. Some of these updates are minor, so it won't take very long before they are done, but others are being revamped completely. Yume's sprite, for example, was something I was never happy with. This sprite has gone through the most iterations but I feel like the current version (in one of the attached images) is something I'm finally happy with. She's not likely to change from this point on.
All of the characters are getting their "Pose B" versions as well, but right now I only have Sayuri, Shiro, and Blanche drawn out.
Shiro's Sprite is possibly the most complete due to the nature of the demo. It was easy to update her sprites but I'm still doing a few tweaks on her face.

Backgrounds:
Due to the immense kindness that people have shown me by donating money towards purchasing a premade background set, I no longer have to create backgrounds for the game. As such, my older ones were released as free-to-use assets.

CGs:
Which brings me into the point of CGs. Because of the new backgrounds, I'm having to redraw some of the CGs, which is fine because they needed the update. I'm currently reworking all of the demo CGs to fit with the updated style. I'm also finishing up some of the post-demo CGs in Shiro's route. The updated art will be cleaner and crisper and will reflect the small character design changes for characters that it applies to.

Writing:
I'm still currently writing Shiro's route but the detailed outline is complete to finish it up. There are some less detailed guidelines written for the rest of the character routes. Once I flesh them out into their more detailed versions, the writing should go much quicker.  There are four stories (routes) total, so I'd say I'm nearly 1/4 of the way done with the writing.

And that's all of the progress I can give right now. It may not seem like much, but things are going much quicker since I first started work on the game.  I will be slowly updating the itch.io page's info and visuals over the course of the game development, so you will probably see the progress there as well.

Thank you, everyone, for being so patient with us on this project. It's really near and dear to my heart so I'm trying to take an appropriate amount of time on it in order to show you the story exactly how I want to tell it.
